The fishermen who supplied the store with fish and shellfish were very fond of the little Mullet boy. His round, rosy face lit up with a broad smile whenever he saw these men returning from their long days at sea. He asked the sailors hundreds of questions about their life on board ship, about the fish and their habits, about the sea, about the gaily-colored ships.
Mr. and Mrs. Mullet were delighted with their son. He was their only child and, following a five-generation family tradition, would certainly take over the business when the time came.
Mrs. Mullet adored her store more than anything else. She loved the beautiful colors of the fish on display.
